Frequently Asked Questions

The minimum practical capacity is 0.1 tonnes/hour (approximately 2.4 tonnes/day). Below this, the operational costs per tonne become uneconomical. For commercial viability, a minimum of 1-2 tonnes/hour (1 TPH) is generally recommended.

For a 1 TPH plant: approximately 2,000-3,000 sq ft covered area. For a 5 TPH plant: approximately 8,000-12,000 sq ft. This includes space for machinery, raw material storage, finished goods warehouse, and office area.

Ideal moisture content for pelletizing is 10-15%. Material above 18% moisture needs drying before pelletizing. Material below 8% may need conditioning with water. Our calculator accounts for this — each material's moisture content is displayed in the selection dropdown.

A three-phase electrical connection is mandatory for all industrial pellet/briquette machinery. Single-phase power is only sufficient for very small farm-scale flat die mills. Ensure proper earthing, voltage stabilization, and a 20% safety buffer above calculated load.

Modern pellet plants are highly automated. A 1-2 machine setup needs only 2 operators per shift. A 5-machine plant needs 3 operators. Larger plants (10+ machines) typically need 5-6 people per shift covering operations, quality control, and maintenance.

Pellets require a pellet mill (ring die or flat die) and produce cylindrical 6-8mm diameter fuel. Briquettes use a hydraulic or screw press and produce larger blocks (60-90mm diameter). Pellet machinery generally costs more but produces a higher-value, export-grade product.
